Yes, there's a (brief) newsletter this week. Here's the last week in digital media.
Mary Meeker's 2019 Internet Trends Report was published during the week. I haven't had a chance to read the full report (yet) but this year touches on advertising and eCommerce (amongst other things) and if you don't have time for the report, recode has great analysis.
An FYI, AppNexus has rebranded as Xandr Invest. Concurrent with this news, AT&T data will be available to buyers across all media types through the Xandr Invest DSP.
Facebook has launched an invite-only "Study from Facebook" app. Facebook will use the Study to collect app usage and user behavior. Data collected is for research purposes only and not for advertising, users will be paid for participating.
Facebook shared some stats about their video product, Facebook Watch. According to Facebook, 140MM people daily spend 1minute on Facebook Watch.
FOX has joined Project OAR, the addressable TV alliance. Project OAR's hopes to have their addressable advertising open standard in the market by 2020.
Epic Games (owners of Fortnite) purchased the popular social media app Houseparty. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed. Unrelated but interesting to watch, there's a great animation over at the Next Web that shows the rise (and fall) of various social networks.
PRIVACY, TRUST, and SAFETY
US Senator Josh Hawley has proposed the "Protecting Children from Online Predators Act" (PDF link). The legislation proposed that platforms stop recommending videos that feature children.
